A targeted arrest was carried out late February 21 at a federal detention facility in Los Angeles after an individual allegedly refused repeated lawful orders to leave the property.
According to federal authorities, officers with the Federal Protective Service (FPS), a division of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, responded to the situation at a facility operated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
Officials state the individual remained on federal property despite multiple clear warnings to disperse. After continued non-compliance, officers moved in to detain the person.
Video from the scene shows officers taking the individual to the ground before placing them in handcuffs. The arrest appears to have been controlled and targeted, with officers focusing solely on the person involved.
Federal Protective Service officers are tasked with protecting federal buildings, property, and personnel. Remaining on restricted federal property after being ordered to leave can result in detention or arrest.
It is not immediately clear what charges the individual may face. Authorities have not released additional identifying information at this time.
The incident comes amid ongoing demonstrations outside ICE facilities in several cities, where tensions have at times required increased federal security presence.
