Becoming a parent and feeling loved and cherished by our parents is how we envision a family. Sadly, life doesn’t always go according to plan, and Alba’s birth was no exception.
Alba’s mother abandoned her at a young age, and even though twenty families took her in, they ultimately turned her away. But then, a glimmer of hope appeared in her life.
Luca Trapanese, a gay man living in Italy, faced numerous challenges when he decided to adopt a child. Despite the societal obstacles he encountered, he was eventually granted permission to adopt a young girl. This little girl happened to have Down syndrome, but that didn’t deter Luca. They formed an incredible bond that was evident to everyone around them.
When Luca set out to adopt a child, he was told that he could only adopt a child with a serious illness, significant disability, or behavioral issues. Little did they know, he would have been happy with any of those choices.
Finally, when Alba was just 13 days old in 2017, Luca officially became her father. By that point, twenty families had already declined the opportunity to adopt her due to her physical condition. But for Luca, Alba brought immeasurable happiness and fulfillment into his life, and he considered it a great honor to be her father. He took his role as a father very seriously.
